Ontario’s automotive repair business is quietly producing some notable growth stories, and Auto Service Group has now put numbers behind its expansion. The company says its revenue increased 115% over three years, earning it a place on The Globe and Mail’s 2026 ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies.

The Vaughan-based group ranked No. 232 nationally and No. 27 in the Consumer category. Its current network stretches across Ontario from Peterborough to Sarnia, with 28 locations operating under six established automotive-service brands. Importantly, the 115% figure refers to revenue growth rather than shop-count growth. The company’s development has combined acquisitions, established local businesses, corporate-owned repair facilities and franchised locations, creating a network that looks considerably different from a conventional single-brand repair chain.

A 115% Revenue Increase Puts Auto Service Group on a National Growth List

Auto Service Group’s 115% figure measures revenue growth across a three-year period, the metric used for The Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies ranking. In practical terms, 115% growth means revenue at the end of the measured period was more than twice its starting level. The company did not disclose its actual revenue in announcing the result, so the percentage should not be mistaken for a dollar figure or an increase in its number of repair shops. Auto Service Group finished No. 232 on the overall 2026 list and No. 27 among companies classified in the Consumer category. A total of 376 businesses made the ranking, which evaluates participating companies on three-year revenue growth after they complete an application process and meet the program’s revenue requirements.

For Auto Service Group, the recognition arrives relatively early in the development of the broader organization. President Costa Haitas described it as coming roughly five and a half years into the company’s growth journey and credited a workforce of more than 150 employees. There is also an important distinction when interpreting the growth rate. Auto Service Group has expanded through acquisitions as well as the development of its existing businesses, meaning the 115% increase cannot automatically be treated as organic or same-store growth. Acquired operations can add revenue immediately when they join a group. The ranking nevertheless provides a useful measure of how quickly the overall business has increased in scale during a period when many independent repair operators have been dealing with higher equipment costs, increasingly sophisticated vehicles and pressure to recruit skilled technicians.

Six Brands Have Been Brought Together Under One Ontario Repair Group

Much of the company’s development has involved bringing established automotive businesses under a common ownership structure while allowing recognizable local brands to remain in the market. In November 2023, then operating primarily under The Mufflerman name, the business acquired five EuroMechanic repair and tire locations serving the Greater Toronto Area and Guelph. Those shops included established businesses in Mississauga, Guelph, Toronto, North York and Scarborough and gave the company a larger presence in servicing European vehicles. Another transaction followed in February 2025 with the acquisition of Sil’s Complete Auto Care Centre in Oakville, a family business that had served its community for nearly five decades. By August 2025, the organization said it had been built through six acquisitions and announced a broader recapitalization and rebranding under the Auto Service Group name.

That 2025 restructuring illustrates how quickly the network has been changing. At the time, the company reported 29 locations and more than 155 employees, with operations spread across The Mufflerman, Superior Tire & Auto, Fleet Specialties, EuroMechanic, Sil’s Auto Service and 4 Aces Auto Centre. The latest 2026 announcement instead lists 28 locations: 20 corporate-owned shops and eight Superior Tire & Auto franchises. The company’s public releases do not explain the one-location difference between those two snapshots, making the latest 28-shop figure best understood as its current footprint rather than a straight-line increase from 2025. The network is also experimenting with ownership structure. In September 2026, Superior Tire & Auto converted its Danforth Road facility in Scarborough from a corporate operation to an owner-operated franchise, its first new franchisee location in more than 15 years.

Canada’s Huge Aftermarket Creates Opportunity, but Skilled Labour Remains a Constraint

Auto Service Group is expanding inside a much larger Canadian automotive aftermarket. The Automotive Industries Association of Canada currently values the country’s auto-care sector at approximately $43.9 billion and says the industry supports a national fleet approaching 26.6 million vehicles. That market covers far more than emergency mechanical repairs. Tires, scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, brakes, exhaust systems, fleet servicing, collision-related work and increasingly complex electronic systems all create recurring demand after a vehicle leaves the dealership. Auto Service Group’s collection of brands reflects that diversity. Some operations serve general repair customers, EuroMechanic has focused on European vehicles, Fleet Specialties serves commercial needs, and long-established businesses such as Sil’s bring local customer relationships into a larger organization. That allows the group to gain scale without necessarily replacing every acquired shop with the same storefront identity.

The bigger challenge may be finding enough skilled people to translate that footprint into service capacity. Industry groups have repeatedly identified automotive technicians as a major constraint on Canadian repair businesses. An MNP labour-market study prepared for Ontario’s motor-vehicle retail sector found more than 3,000 automotive-trade vacancies in the province in the first quarter of 2023, roughly double the pre-pandemic level. AIA Canada has since continued warning that the broader industry faces a significant technician shortage as experienced workers retire and modern vehicles require additional expertise in electronics, advanced driver-assistance systems, hybrids and EVs. That makes Auto Service Group’s workforce of more than 150 people as strategically important as its store count. Its next phase will therefore depend not simply on acquiring additional garages, but on maintaining technicians, integrating businesses and preserving the local customer trust that made those shops attractive acquisition targets in the first place.
