A damaged vehicle can spend surprisingly little time under a technician’s tools and far more time waiting for the right component to arrive. Fix Network Canada is targeting that costly gap with a new preferred OEM parts supply program involving Uniparts OEM Canada and Unipièce O.E.M.
Announced August 13, the arrangement gives Fix Auto, ProColor Collision and Collision Repair Experts facilities across Canada access to a supplier network connected with more than 550 dealerships. The timing is significant. Collision shops are dealing with expensive components, back orders and vehicles packed with sensors and electronics that can turn an apparently simple repair into a complicated job. For Fix Network, the deal is ultimately about making the supply side of collision repair more predictable while helping independently operated shops keep damaged vehicles moving through their bays.
Fix Network Is Building a Nationwide OEM Parts Channel
Fix Network’s agreement establishes a preferred OEM parts supply program through Uniparts OEM Canada and Unipièce O.E.M., extending the arrangement across its Canadian collision-repair operations. Rather than leaving every facility to navigate parts sourcing entirely on its own, the program gives participating repairers another organized route into the dealership-based OEM supply system. That matters because a collision repair cannot move forward simply because technicians, equipment and shop space are available. A missing lamp assembly, structural component, sensor bracket or trim piece can leave an otherwise repairable vehicle sitting unfinished.
The partnership also reflects how large collision networks increasingly use centralized supplier relationships to support locally operated facilities. Fix Network says it operates more than 2,000 service points globally across multiple automotive and property-repair brands. Its Canadian collision businesses remain locally operated, but national agreements can provide shops with buying and administrative support that would be difficult for individual locations to reproduce independently.
Three Collision Brands Are Covered by the Agreement
The program applies to Fix Auto, ProColor Collision and Collision Repair Experts facilities across Canada. That gives the agreement considerably more reach than a procurement arrangement involving a single shop or regional group. Each banner serves the collision-repair market, meaning the new supplier relationship can potentially influence parts sourcing across a geographically dispersed network of repair facilities handling vehicles from many manufacturers.
For customers, the names on the buildings may differ, but the underlying problem is familiar. A driver whose crossover is waiting for a replacement liftgate in Alberta faces much the same frustration as an Ontario driver waiting for a headlamp or a Quebec customer whose repair requires an unavailable electronic component. National sourcing cannot eliminate every delay, particularly when a manufacturer itself has no stock. It can, however, give repair facilities a broader system for locating inventory and communicating with dealerships instead of depending on a limited number of established local contacts.
More Than 550 Dealership Connections Give Shops Greater Reach
Uniparts and Unipièce say their combined network includes more than 550 partner dealerships representing automotive manufacturers across Canada. That scale is central to the new Fix Network arrangement. OEM collision parts generally travel through manufacturer and dealership distribution channels, so access to a larger group of dealers can improve the chances of finding a component that is unavailable through a shop’s usual supplier.
The difference becomes particularly noticeable when a part is scarce. A repairer may normally purchase from a nearby dealership because the relationship is convenient and established. If that dealership has no stock and the manufacturer’s regular pipeline is constrained, the search can become time-consuming. A supplier organization already communicating with hundreds of dealerships can widen that search without requiring shop staff to make repeated calls themselves. The 550-plus figure does not mean every back-ordered component will suddenly become available, but it gives Fix Network facilities a substantially larger sourcing network when normal ordering channels reach a dead end.
Parts Delays Remain a Major Collision-Repair Pressure Point
Fix Network specifically identified parts availability and growing repair complexity as industry pressures behind the partnership. Broader collision-sector data shows why the concern persists. PartsTrader’s Spring 2026 industry report found median delivery times across the parts categories it tracked reached 7.4 days in January and 7.1 days in February. New OEM parts recorded the longest waits, averaging nine days in January and 8.7 days in February.
Those figures come from a wider North American marketplace rather than Fix Network’s Canadian locations specifically, but they illustrate the operational challenge. Once a vehicle has been disassembled and a missing component is discovered, an unexpected week-long wait can disrupt production schedules, occupy storage space and delay the owner’s return to normal transportation. Shops therefore have a strong incentive to identify necessary components early and source them reliably. The new preferred program is designed around that problem, giving Fix Network facilities additional support when parts procurement becomes the factor holding up completion.
Back-Ordered Parts Searches Are a Key Part of the Service
The agreement involves more than simply providing another catalogue from which shops can place orders. Fix Network says Uniparts and Unipièce can assist facilities with dealership account setup, dealer communication, pricing issues and searches for back-ordered components. Those services target some of the administrative work that occurs behind the scenes after a repair estimate is written but before technicians can finish the job.
A separate 2026 agreement involving the same supplier organizations shows how significant specialized parts searches can become. In announcing a program with Consolidated Collision Services, the suppliers reported conducting 10,535 missing-parts searches during the previous 12 months. Of those, 5,408 parts were located and delivered to repair facilities within 24 to 48 hours. Those results should not be treated as a guarantee for Fix Network facilities, since the programs are separate. They do, however, provide a useful example of the sourcing infrastructure Fix Network is tapping when ordinary dealership orders fail to produce the required component.
Modern Vehicles Have Made the Parts Question More Complicated
Collision repair has moved far beyond replacing visibly bent sheet metal. Modern vehicles combine structural components with cameras, radar sensors, electronic modules, specialized materials and manufacturer-specific repair procedures. The Automotive Industries Association of Canada notes that advanced driver-assistance technology is now present in virtually every modern vehicle entering collision facilities, increasing the importance of identifying systems and planning repairs correctly from the beginning.
That complexity changes how repairers think about replacement components. A bumper fascia may appear largely cosmetic, yet the area can contain or interact with radar units, brackets and other equipment used by driver-assistance systems. Mirrors, grilles, quarter panels and suspension components can create similar considerations. As a result, locating the correct component is increasingly connected to completing the entire repair according to manufacturer requirements. Fix Network describes the new program as supporting manufacturer-compliant repairs, making parts procurement not simply a purchasing exercise but one element of the technical process required to return increasingly sophisticated vehicles to service.
ADAS Makes OEM Procedures and Parts Sourcing Closely Connected
Advanced driver-assistance systems add another layer to the collision-shop workflow because repairs involving certain components may trigger scanning, aiming or calibration procedures. I-CAR’s technical resources note that post-repair calibration requirements vary by vehicle and system and that access to current manufacturer information is necessary when determining how those procedures must be carried out.
That can make an apparently straightforward parts decision consequential. A replacement grille, windshield, bumper component or sensor mounting point may affect the operation or positioning of safety technology. A shop therefore has to consider not only whether a component physically fits, but also what the manufacturer requires once it is installed. AIA Canada similarly advises shops to identify ADAS equipment during repair planning rather than discovering calibration requirements at the end of a job. In that environment, Fix Network’s emphasis on OEM parts access fits a larger industry movement toward tighter coordination between components, repair procedures, diagnostics and final vehicle calibration.
Faster Parts Sourcing Can Matter Directly to Vehicle Owners
For collision shops, repair cycle time is an operational measurement. For vehicle owners, it is considerably more personal. An extra week awaiting a component can mean another week using a rental vehicle, arranging rides to work, reorganizing school pickups or leaving a household without its second vehicle. That is why Fix Network chief executive Steve Leal described reliable parts access as an important part of delivering timely, high-quality repairs.
A preferred supplier arrangement cannot control every stage of the process. Severe damage may require lengthy structural work, insurers may need to approve supplements, and truly back-ordered components cannot always be found elsewhere. What it can potentially reduce is avoidable searching and communication time. If shop staff can access a broader dealer network or hand a difficult back-order search to a specialized supplier, technicians have a better chance of receiving what they need without prolonged administrative chasing. That distinction is important: the partnership is intended to improve the conditions for faster repairs, not promise identical turnaround times for every damaged vehicle.
The Agreement Is Also About Reducing Administrative Friction
Parts departments in collision facilities perform work that customers rarely see. Accounts must be established, prices verified, dealerships contacted, incorrect components returned and unavailable items tracked. Every hour spent resolving those problems is time that cannot be devoted to another operational task. Fix Network’s new supplier relationship specifically includes assistance with account setup, dealer communication and pricing support in addition to physical parts sourcing.
That broader service model helps explain why collision networks increasingly view procurement as a workflow issue rather than merely a question of obtaining the lowest component price. A part that appears attractive on paper is less useful if it arrives late, proves incorrect or creates another round of phone calls and ordering. Unipièce says it has spent roughly three decades developing its OEM distribution network for collision facilities. By connecting that existing infrastructure to Fix Network franchisees, the agreement is intended to make dealership interaction more consistent and allow repair businesses to spend less time navigating fragmented sourcing relationships.
Important Details of the Program Have Not Yet Been Disclosed
Despite the national scope of the announcement, several practical details remain unclear. Fix Network has not publicly specified whether participation is mandatory or optional for individual franchisees, exactly when all elements of the program become operational, how orders will be divided between Uniparts and Unipièce, or the commercial terms available to participating locations. Those unanswered questions matter because they will ultimately determine how extensively shops use the preferred arrangement.
What is clear is the strategic direction. Fix Network is trying to strengthen the connection between its collision facilities and the OEM parts supply chain at a time when delayed components and increasingly technical repairs can make production planning difficult. The success of the program will ultimately be measured less by the announcement itself than by everyday shop-floor outcomes: whether difficult parts are found sooner, whether vehicles spend fewer days waiting and whether franchisees see enough operational value to make the preferred channel part of their normal workflow. For collision customers, those practical results are what will matter most.
