A collision shop can have an approved estimate, an open repair bay and technicians ready to work, yet still see a vehicle sit idle because one critical component has not arrived. Fix Network is trying to reduce that familiar source of frustration with a new Canada-wide preferred OEM parts supply program involving Uniparts OEM Canada and Unipièce O.E.M. The arrangement covers Fix Auto, ProColor Collision and Collision Repair Experts facilities, connecting participating repairers with a supplier network tied to more than 550 dealerships representing automotive manufacturers across Canada. Beyond ordinary ordering, the program includes support for dealer accounts, pricing questions and hard-to-find back-ordered components. The timing matters: parts remain a major share of Canadian collision repair costs, while increasingly complex vehicles make getting the correct component quickly more important to both repair quality and turnaround times.
What the Canada-Wide Deal Actually Covers
Fix Network announced the partnership on August 13, establishing what it describes as a preferred OEM parts supply program for its Canadian Fix Auto, ProColor Collision and Collision Repair Experts facilities. That makes the initiative broader than the Fix Auto banner alone. Uniparts OEM Canada and Unipièce O.E.M. collectively provide access to a network of more than 550 dealership partners representing automotive manufacturers across the country.
The arrangement is designed around manufacturer-compliant repairs and better parts availability, but several commercial details remain private. Industry reporting notes that Fix Network has not publicly specified whether individual franchisees must participate, exactly when the program becomes operational at every location, how orders will be divided between the two suppliers or what pricing terms shops will receive. That distinction matters. The announcement establishes a national sourcing framework, but its ultimate effect will depend on how extensively locations use it and how consistently suppliers can deliver.
The Real Target Is the Back-Order Problem
The most important part of the program may be what happens when an ordinary dealership order fails. Fix Network says Uniparts and Unipièce can help repair facilities establish dealership accounts, communicate with dealers, resolve pricing issues and conduct searches for back-ordered components. For a production manager who has already dismantled a vehicle only to discover that a bracket, lamp or structural component is unavailable locally, that extra search capability can be more valuable than another ordering portal.
There is evidence that this kind of service can produce tangible results, although it comes from a separate Unipièce agreement rather than the new Fix Network program. When Consolidated Collision Services announced its own national arrangement with Unipièce in June, the supplier said its back-order service had handled 10,535 missing-part searches during the previous 12 months. Of those, 5,408 components were reportedly located and delivered to repair facilities within 24 to 48 hours. That does not guarantee identical performance for Fix locations, but it illustrates the bottleneck these sourcing networks are built to attack.
Why One Missing Part Can Hold Up an Entire Repair
Collision repair is unusually vulnerable to a single unavailable component because the work happens in interconnected stages. A vehicle may need structural work before reassembly, while final diagnostics or road testing may depend on other components being installed. When one essential piece fails to arrive, technicians can be forced to move the vehicle aside, reorganize production and wait. The result can affect far more than the parts department.
Enterprise’s latest Canadian Length of Rental data shows why repair throughput still deserves attention. Overall collision-related rental length averaged 14.9 days in the second quarter of 2026. Rentals associated with drivable vehicles averaged 12.1 days, while non-drivable cases averaged 26.7 days. At the same time, parts accounted for 49.39% of total Canadian repair costs in the quarter. Parts are therefore not a small peripheral expense: they represent roughly half of repair spending and can directly influence whether work continues smoothly or stalls while a vehicle occupies valuable shop capacity.
Cycle Times Are Improving, but the Pressure Has Not Disappeared
Canadian collision repair turnaround indicators have improved. Enterprise reported that average collision-related rental length fell to 14.9 days in the second quarter of 2026, down half a day from 15.4 days a year earlier. That follows another half-day year-over-year improvement in the first quarter. Even so, the national figure masks substantial geographic differences: Newfoundland and Labrador averaged 17.5 days in Q2, Quebec 16.3 and Ontario 15.9, while Prince Edward Island was at 13.3.
Those variations illustrate why a Canada-wide sourcing arrangement could be useful without guaranteeing identical results everywhere. Parts availability is only one factor affecting repair times; staffing, insurer approvals, vehicle severity, local transportation distances and shop capacity also matter. Fix Network has positioned the deal as a way to improve operational efficiency, but it has not published a specific cycle-time reduction target. The meaningful test will come after participating facilities have enough repair data to determine whether better sourcing actually translates into fewer stalled jobs.
Modern Vehicles Make OEM Sourcing More Important
The parts challenge is becoming more consequential as the Canadian vehicle fleet incorporates more electrification, sensors and interconnected electronics. Mitchell reported that battery-electric vehicles represented 4.94% of repairable Canadian collision claims in the first quarter of 2026, while mild hybrids reached 5.28%. The average Canadian repairable claim severity for a battery-electric vehicle was $7,185, compared with $5,605 for an internal-combustion vehicle.
Higher severity does not mean every EV is difficult to repair, but the figures show how costly modern collision work can become. Fix Network specifically says its new supply arrangement is intended to support manufacturer-compliant repairs amid increasing vehicle complexity. Correct OEM components can be particularly important when repairs involve structural systems, electronics or components closely integrated with safety technology. Reliable parts sourcing alone cannot guarantee a proper repair—training, procedures, equipment and diagnostics remain essential—but eliminating the hunt for a correct component can remove one significant source of delay.
ADAS Can Turn a Parts Job Into a Calibration Job
Advanced driver-assistance systems have added another layer to collision work. Enterprise’s Canadian Q1 2025 report, citing Mitchell data, found diagnostic operations on 83.7% of Canadian estimates, up from 73.8% a year earlier. Calibration appeared on 18% of estimates at the time the data was measured, with Mitchell expecting that figure to rise above 21% as supplemental operations were added to mature claims.
The operational consequence is easy to understand in a repair bay. Replacing a bumper, windshield, mirror or other component near cameras, radar or sensors can be only one stage of restoring the vehicle; certain repairs may subsequently require scanning, aiming or calibration according to manufacturer procedures. Broader industry data from CCC has shown that calibrations can add days to collision cycle times. The Fix Network announcement, however, specifically describes an OEM parts sourcing program and does not say that calibration services are included. Better parts flow can help keep the process moving, but it does not eliminate the technical work required afterward.
The 550-Dealer Network Is the Strategic Asset
Uniparts and Unipièce’s dealership relationships are what give the agreement its national reach. Fix Network says the suppliers’ combined network exceeds 550 dealership partners and represents automotive manufacturers across Canada. Rather than leaving every individual collision centre to build and maintain the same sourcing relationships independently, the preferred program provides a common channel for account support, dealership communication, pricing questions and back-order searches.
That model is particularly relevant for a large organization. Fix Network says its broader portfolio encompasses more than 2,000 points of service around the world, while Fix Auto alone has more than 875 locations globally. Unipièce also brings roughly three decades of experience developing OEM distribution relationships for collision repairers. None of those figures means a hard-to-find part will suddenly exist when a manufacturer has no inventory. The strategic advantage is different: when inventory does exist somewhere in the dealership network, a wider search mechanism can improve the odds of locating it without every shop starting from scratch.
Insurers and Customers Both Have a Stake in Faster Parts Flow
Repair delays ultimately spread beyond the body shop. A vehicle owner may remain in a replacement vehicle longer, an insurer may continue paying eligible rental expenses and the repair facility can lose productive space while an unfinished car waits. Enterprise’s 14.9-day national rental average for Q2 2026 demonstrates that collision-related transportation needs can still extend for roughly two weeks, with substantially longer averages for non-drivable vehicles.
Repair costs also influence the wider insurance system. Insurance Bureau of Canada notes that a vehicle’s make, model, year, value and expected repair costs are among the factors affecting insurance pricing, while advanced automotive technology can make collision repairs more expensive. That gives insurers an incentive to watch both repair severity and cycle time closely. Customers experience the issue more simply: every additional delay can mean another day without their own vehicle. A sourcing agreement that reduces preventable waiting therefore has potential value across the claims chain, even though measurable savings from the Fix program have not yet been published.
Parts Partnerships Are Becoming a Bigger Industry Strategy
Fix Network is not the only Canadian collision organization formalizing its OEM sourcing relationships. In June 2026, Consolidated Collision Services signed a separate national agreement with Unipièce that included dedicated parts-search and back-order support. CCS was reported to have more than 85 collision repair locations representing more than 225 dealers, showing how large repair groups are increasingly treating parts procurement as a network-level operational issue rather than leaving every location to solve shortages independently.
The two arrangements are not identical. The CCS agreement was described as making Unipièce its exclusive OEM parts supplier, while Fix Network has announced a preferred program involving both Unipièce and Uniparts. Still, the broader direction is noteworthy. As vehicle complexity rises and a delayed component can disrupt an otherwise carefully scheduled repair, large networks have an incentive to use their scale to strengthen dealership connections and sourcing capability. Procurement is increasingly becoming part of collision-repair productivity strategy, alongside technician training, estimating accuracy and production planning.
The Next Test Is Measurable Shop-Level Performance
The announcement establishes a credible framework, but the most revealing numbers will emerge after the program has been operating long enough to measure. Fix Network has not yet disclosed targets for parts fill rates, back-order resolution times, cycle-time improvement or cost savings. It has also not publicly detailed franchisee participation rules, the allocation of business between Uniparts and Unipièce or the commercial terms shops will receive.
Those unknowns do not diminish the logic behind the deal; they define what the industry should watch next. Useful indicators would include how quickly back-ordered components are located, whether fewer vehicles stall between repair stages, whether supplement-related delays decline and whether average key-to-key or rental duration changes at participating locations. For a customer, success would be far less technical: fewer calls explaining that the vehicle is finished except for one missing part. If the national supplier network can consistently reduce those moments, the agreement will have addressed one of collision repair’s most persistent operational frustrations.
